This year, Roger Dubuis has introduced a new member of the excalibur family–the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Tourbillon. It happened at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie 2009 (SIHH), bringing together professionals in fine watchmaking every year. The timepiece is one of the most sophisticated creations in this collection of watches with grand complications.

The 42-mm case of the timepiece, as well as the bezel, is crafted from 18K pink gold. Roman numerals mark the time on the silvered sunray dial of the watch. The dial of the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Tourbillon also features two flange rings–the black one with white markers and the silvered one with black markers and Arabic numerals. The flying tourbillon, indicating the seconds with a blue steel hand, can be seen through an aperture at 6 o’clock. This complex mechanism eliminates errors of rate caused by the effects of gravity when the watch is rotated, thus being extremely accurate. Requiring the acme of watchmaking craftsmanship, tourbillon has become a specialty for the Geneva-based company.
